Weddings

Pollockshiels Burgh Hall performanceFor many years newly-wed couples have entrusted Coila Ceilidh Band with helping them celebrate their special day. With our combination of professionalism, musicianship and experience, the bride and groom can relax and enjoy the evening, relying on us to make their reception a success.  By tailoring the blend of music and dances to suit the audience, each ceilidh is a unique and memorable event. Our compère and expert ‘caller’ encourages wedding guests onto the floor and guides them through every dance while adding a touch of humour to the evening. Should a mixture of ceilidh and disco music be required, we are able to provide a professional disco to complement the performance of the band.

Not only is a ceilidh great fun at a wedding, it is probably the best way of mixing the bride and groom’s families and friends together!

“We clearly ‘call’ or talk through all the dances throughout the evening allowing everyone to join in the fun.”

Gavin drumming at a weddingMost of our work comes via word of mouth from guests at weddings or from recommendations by hotels where we regularly play. Although most of our performances are ceilidhs in Edinburgh and Glasgow, we play throughout Scotland. We regularly perform at venues ranging from the finest hotels in Scotland to some of the more intimate local establishments.

Generally a full evening would be a three or four-hour ceilidh. We usually start with a waltz, introducing the bride and groom onto the dance-floor and giving guests the opportunity to get some photographs. The rest of the bridal party are then encouraged onto the floor before we get everyone up and put the ceilidh into full swing! The bride and groom can then relax as we take care of the rest of the evening. We would normally take a short break halfway through the night when tea/coffee or a buffet can be served.
