Your wedding

We appreciate that choosing the right band for your big day is an important consideration and we feel our mixture of experience, professionalism and musical ability make us stand out from the crowd. The presence of live musicians, especially a four-piece band, is essential in making a memorable ceilidh.

Coila playing at a wedding

The majority of our engagements are wedding receptions, most of which are in central Scotland, although we do travel throughout the UK and abroad.

Most of our work comes from word of mouth from guests at functions or from recommendations from hotels where we regularly perform; from the finest hotels such as the Brig O'Doon, Turnberry & Gleneagles to the more intimate local establishments.

Generally a full evening would be a three or four hour ceilidh, although occasionally the client prefers to finish the evening with a disco, and we finish a little earlier. We usually start with a waltz, with the bride and groom on the floor, giving guests the opportunity to get some photos. The rest of the bridal party are then encouraged onto the floor before we get everyone up and put the ceilidh into full swing. The bride & groom can then relax as we take care of the rest of the evening. We would normally take a short break halfway through the night, when tea/coffee or a buffet can be served.

Not only is a ceilidh good fun at a wedding, it is probably the best way of mixing the bride's and groom's family and friends together. Because the ceilidh dances have steps you can follow, everyone can join in. In addition, we clearly 'call' or talk through all the dances where people are maybe a little unsure.

So…what does Coila sound like?

You may already have one of our albums; if not then you can download some mp3s from this site. If you have trouble with this then we can supply you a CD-R with some of these tracks. Alternatively, you might like to come and hear us play somewhere before you book us, which can easily be arranged.

Our frequently asked questions section should cover most other queries.
